Beware of fakes and check the information!

Today’s war in Ukraine is not only on the battlefield, but also in the information space. So, a lot of information about help, needs, transportation of people, which is currently spreading in the media and social networks, just needs to be checked! Before sending money, volunteers, medicine, help, or getting into someone’s car, check whether the available information is true, ask questions, ask for documents, etc.

The same situation arises with information about companies that limit their work in the Russian Federation or leave this market in general. For example, our company PROXIMA RESEARCH INTERNATIONAL faced this after the announcement of its exit from the Russian and Belarusian markets. Such a decision, although difficult in business processes, we see as the only possible in the current situation. At the same time, many thousands of our partners received a letter stating that PROXIMA RESEARCH RUSSIA continues its activities and will continue to provide partners with appropriate services. This information is false. We assure you that PROXIMA RESEARCH INTERNATIONAL LLC has nothing to do with the dissemination of this information.

And the State Communications Service of Ukraine, for example, warns about sending malicious software to Ukrainians. So, an email with malware can come to any email.

It is noted that malicious software that steals users’ personal data is sent to Ukrainians en masse.

The government’s Computer Emergency Response Team CERT-UA, which operates under the auspices of the State Communications Service of Ukraine, has found an e-mail from the box mariya@posish.club on the subject “letter of approval of cash security”, which contains attachments “letter of support.xlsx”. When it is opened, it downloads the malware FormBook, which is used to steal data.

If you have received or opened this letter, please notify cert@cert.gov.ua.

So be careful, be critical of the information in the media today, and always check the data!
